  • Governor DeSantis signed the Unauthorized Public Camping and Public Sleeping bill into law which will take effect October 1st. The new law prohibits sleeping or camping on public property unless it’s designated by the county for that purpose as a temporary shelter which would be regulated by the state.  
  • Indian River County held it's first public workshop Wednesday as the county is nearing an end to its current contract for trash collection. Five different companies are vying for the business; however, all bids have come in significantly higher than the current monthly cost for residents which is about $14. Current bids range from about $23 per month to $54 monthly.  
  • Indian River State College has announced that they’re eliminating their women’s basketball program and Esports team. Additionally, their volleyball team will drop down a division. According to a spokeswoman for the school the athletic program has always operated at a loss.  
  • A warmer day today with a high in the upper 70’s which is slightly warmer than usual for this date. A front is expected to bring rain into our area tomorrow into Saturday.  
  • Gas prices were flat on Wednesday at the highest price of the year. The average price statewide for regular unleaded is currently $3.56 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.73 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.64 and in Indian River County the average is $3.61 per gallon.
