The most common service providing TV content in our house is...

Bottom Line: Most of us might think of a traditional provider like XFinity or DirectTV. That's no longer the case. It's Netflix. According to research firm Statistica:

54% of household now use Netflix

46% use a DVR

So yes, more people watch Netflix than use a DVR to record live programming to watch later. That's probably the most surprising aspect of this story. It does make sense when you think about the way people most commonly use Netflix (streaming). There's not a need for on demand recordings if you use a service like Netflix. Times have most certainly changed and while most still use a traditional TV service in conjunction with Netflix, if the two non-negotiables for many (news & sports), are eventually accounted for by Netflix or a like service - they'd be in a position to domination.
