New research - similar results - Remote work is overwhelmingly more productive:

Bottom Line: Future Workplace recently completed a new study on remote work productivity. The results were stunning and emphatic. With more than 24,000 remote workers studied, 98% were more productive working from home vs. an office environment.

  • 98%! Any questions?

I've seen this first hand. My wife Ashley used to work locally with her existing company which included working out of a physical office most of the time. She was promoted to a regional position which covers the south east. She exclusively works from home unless she's traveling. She's observed that she works an average of an hour and a half longer daily (much of that is simply a byproduct of not having to fully dress up for a business setting and having to spend time in traffic driving to and from work). Additionally, with few distractions, even the time spend working tends to be more productive. So it's clear that where there's an opportunity and desire to work remotely - it's almost always a good idea.
