Temperature Check: How do Floridian's feel about our Governor & US Senators?
Bottom Line: Morning Consultant just wrapped up the most comprehensive approval polling in 2017. I wanted to take a look at Florida's featured politicians. Here's how we feel about our Governor and two US Senators:
Scott:
57% approve
36% disapprove
Net: +21%
Nelson:
53% approve
26% disapprove
Net: +27%
Rubio:
52% approve
38% disapprove
Net: +14%
Takeaways:
- We rather decisively approve of all of our polled politicians
- Governor Scott is the most approved of politician polled on statewide but Senator Nelson has the highest overall net rating based on having the lowest disapproval rating.
- Rubio is clearly the least approved of currently but still enjoys double-digit net support
It's highly unusual for a swing state like Florida to feature highly popular politicians across the board. It's notable that after years of marginally negative/positive ratings for Governor Scott - that he has broken out to the highest overall approval ratings of his administration in the first 2017 survey. This also sets up an interesting narrative looking towards 2018 should Governor Scott choose to challenge Senator Nelson. It looks as though it could be a heavy-weight fight for the ages should that materialize.
