Tracking Trump - The President's approval 4-28-17:

Bottom Line: This is one of two weekly tracking stories to get a reality/temperature check with regard to what's really going on with public opinion of the PresidentIn this series we'll track the high point, low point and current ratings and week over week comparisons.

  • Trump's lowest ratings: 40.4% approval and 52.8% disapprove: -12.3% (4/7/17)

  • Trump highest approval ratings were an average 45.2% approval and 43% disapproval +2.2% (1/27/17)

  • Trump's current ratings: 43% approval and 52.4% disapprove: -9.4%

President Trump's approval ratings have dropped two weeks in a row. It's interesting to note that the two weeks that Congress wasn't in session led to a fall in his approval ratings. I believe this is endemic of Americans having grown restless with the lack of legislative success with healthcare and taxes - the two most important issues ID'd in polling currently. President Trump's net approval fell 1.4% this week.

The President will need to deliver on those issues in order to win over meaningful additional support (given that his highest approval rating has only been 45%).

The variance between pollsters was 8 points this week. At the peak there was a 27% disparity between accredited pollsters. The range this week is Fox News -3% to CBS News -12% - which is the same range as last week. So until next week...
