History repeating itself? 2017's special elections look an awful lot like 2009's thus far:
Bottom Line: There are three components to how I analyze/predict election outcomes. 1.5 of those are based on historical factors. The reason is pretty simple. History really does have a way of repeating itself more often than not. As different as the political landscape may appear today as compared to today in 2009 - it's actually extremely similar.
- In 2009 you had a new Democrat President and Democrats held the majority in the US House and Senate
- The first four Congressional Special Elections for Democrats who'd been added to Obama cabinet were all won by Democrats
And this year...
- In 2017 you have a new Republican President and Republicans hold the majority in the US House and Senate
- The first four Congressional Special Elections for Republicans who'd been added to the Trump cabinet have all been won by Republicans
Really the only difference, other than the inverse of the political party in power, is that the media was busy playing the role of Obama lap dog eight years ago, while the Godless, soulless, slanderous media are generally busy attempting to falsify stories to achieve impeachment.
