  • A disturbance is in the eastern Caribbean Sea and has a 70% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone as it drifts towards Central America. We’re still inside of a King Tide cycle through Wednesday which may bring localized flooding to vulnerable coastal communities.  
  • In another sign of a recovering property insurance market, Fort Lauderdale based Universal Property & Casualty Insurance, which was the largest property insurer in the state prior to the insurance crisis, stated they’re ready to add to their policy count once again. The company expressed confidence in Florida’s market stabilizing following two years of reforms in the state legislature.  
  • The state of Florida launched a first-of-its kind website for fathers entitled Father First, which provides daily parenting tips, community networks and organizations for fathers and grant opportunities for fathers to be able to access. The project is part of Governor DeSantis’ fatherhood initiative aimed at responsible and involved parenting. Florida’s Department of Children and Families is operating the service.  
  • West Palm Beach officials have given the go ahead for the development of a 48-unit housing project to be constructed of steel shipping containers. The affordable housing project will be built on 45th Street near the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches and is being overseen by the Palm Beach County Housing Authority.  
  • Gas prices have fallen by a penny. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.27 per gallon – 2 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.47 per gallon, which is the 8th highest price in the state.
