Okeechobee County Man Arrested After Death Of Emaciated Horse

A man has been arrested for animal cruelty in connection to some emaciated horses in Okeechobee County.

Photos of the horses were posted to social media over the weekend and 57-year old Bobby Travis was arrested Tuesday after one of his four horses died. Three others were seized by animal care and control.

The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office is also conducting an internal investigation into how the agency handled the case.

Travis had been cited back in 2012 for failing to provide his horses with sanitary living conditions. It was reported the following year that an emaciated horse had been seized and was subsequently euthanized as part of an animal cruelty investigation.
