Pinellas Lifts Beach Social Distancing and Pool Restrictions

CLEARWATER -- While extending the local state of emergency for another week, Pinellas County Commission also voted to remove some COVID-19 related restrictions.

Effective immediately, social distancing restrictions are removed at Pinellas beaches. Visitors are strongly encouraged to continue practicing social distancing, however, and signs will remain up at the beach.

Community pools at apartments, condos and hotels are opening again. All COVID-19 restrictions on hotel pools go away at 3:00 pm Thursday (28th) and restrictions on apartment, condo and HOA pools go away Monday (June 1st).

Playgrounds at child care centers may open, effective immediately. Public playgrounds may begin reopening starting Monday, with social distancing and safety reminders. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring hand sanitizers and wipe down surfaces.

People are still encouraged to wear face masks, especially where social distancing can't be achieved.

Commissioners also voted to extend the application deadline for CARES until June 30. CARES provides individual financial assistance and grants to small business.
