Domino, Kozell & Snyder Battle It Out For State House 82 GOP Primary

In our Election Spotlight, a former member of the Florida House of Representatives wants to get back in.

Carl Domino is one of three Republicans running in the primary for the seat in District 82, as current State Rep. MaryLynn Mager is termed out.

Domino, who was an officer in the U.S. Navy, previously served in the House from 2002 to 2010 and touts his accomplishments then.

"I worked with (then Governor) Jeb Bush to bring the Life Sciences complex to this district and that's created hundreds of high paying jobs. I sit on one of the investment advisory committees for Max Planck, so I've continued doing that."

Rick Kozell is an attorney and former business owner, who says he's fed up with the government-imposed restrictions on businesses, brought on by the pandemic.

"I'm tired of seeing our rights trampled, our Constitutional rights trampled, our economic liberties trampled here by a bureaucracy that is just totally disconnected from the needs of working American families. I think we need people that have made a payroll. People that don't need to hold elected office, that are going there to do something and run on their experience."

In 2016, Kozell ran for Congress in District 18 and lost the Republican primary to U.S. Representative Brian Mast.

Congressman Mast has endorsed the third candidate in this race...John Snyder, who's the son of Martin County Sheriff William Snyder, himself a former state representative.

Snyder, a Marine veteran, is a business owner who says he has the answer for Florida to come back financially from the crisis.

"I believe a strong vibrant free market is going to get us back on track in a much more meaningful way than government handouts will. I believe now more than ever we've got to really be willing to tighten the belt and practice strong fiscal conservatism."

The winner of the August 18 primary faces Democrat Elisa Edwards Ackerly in November.
