Elections Official: Misinformation Campaign Underway Through Texts

Florida elections officials say there is a misinformation campaign underway.

"Be on alert. We know that these calls are going out there and I fear that they're meant to confuse people. They're meant to erode trust in the system."

Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Wendy Sartory Link says voters are contacting her office after getting confusing text messages and phone calls about mail-in ballots. Sometimes they never even requested one.

"They'll say it says that my ballot wasn't signed or my ballot's not going to count, and I didn't even order a ballot."

She says those are coming from third-party groups, but nobody knows who they are.

Link urges voters to contact local elections officials if you get such a text or phone call.
