Election Results: Palm Beach County Federal, State & Local Races

Florida's primary is in the books. You know about the races at the top of the ticket, including Charlie Crist winning the Democrat Primary for Governor and Val Demings winning the Democrat nomination for the U.S. Senate seat held and being defended by Republican Marco Rubio.

Focusing on races in the Palm Beaches, Incumbent Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won the District 20 Democrat primary rematch against former Broward county Mayor Dale Holness. She'll face Republican Drew Montez Clark in November.

Congressman Brian Mast defeated three challengers in a GOP Primary in District 21 and will face Democrat Corrina Balderamos Robinson in November.

The District 22 Republican Primary is too close to call with Dan Franzese holding a 135 vote lead over Deborah Adiemy. The winner will ultimately challenge Democrat Congresswoman Lois Frankel in November.

In the open seat for District 23, Republican Joe Budd and Democrat Jared Moskowitz have won their respective primaries.

In the Palm Beach County Commission, District 6 seat being vacated by term limited Melissa McKinlay, Michelle Oyola McGovern has won a three-way Democrat primary to face Republican Sara Baxter in the General Election.

Two judicial races were on the ballot Tuesday.

Caryn Siperstein has won the race for the Circuit Court, Group 23 and Incumbent Judge Paul Damico has won his race to keep his seat in County Court, Group 9.

In the Florida Senate Republican Primary for District 26, Steve Byers defeated Bill Wheelen.

Looking at the Florida House of Representatives:

State Rep. Mike Caruso running for a new seat in District 87, easily defeats Republican primary challenger Jane Justice and will face Democrat Sienna Osta in November.

Peggy Gossett Seidman defeats Christina DuCasse in the Republican Primary for the open seat in House District 91 after Emily Slosberg decided not to run for re-election. Gossett Seidman will run against Democrat Andy Thomson in the general election.

In the State House District 92 Democrat Primary, State Rep. Kelly Skidmore cruises to victory and will face Republican Dorcas Hernandez in November.

In the Democrat primary for a new Palm Beach County State House seat in District 93, Katherine Waldron has a 149 vote lead over Shelly Lariz Albright. The winner will face Saulis Banionis in the fall.

There were four races for Palm Beach County School Board. Two of them were won outright Tuesday night, while two more head to runoffs in November.

In District 3, Incumbent Karen Brill defeats three challengers to win another term.

In District 4, Incumbent Erica Whitfield beat challenger Angelique Contreras.

In the District 6 race, Incumbent Marcia Andrews has a wide lead over the second vote-getter Jen Showalter, but she fell short of 50 percent so that race heads to a November runoff.

In the open District 7 race, Edwin Ferguson has a slight lead over Corey Michael Smith, but neither candidate received 50 percent of the vote so they head to a runoff.
