Florida COVID-19 Cases on the Rise Again

There is mixed news to report on the COVID-19 front in Florida.

The bad news is, there were more than 57 thousand new cases of the virus statewide in the past two weeks, compared to a little more than 33 thousand cases in the two weeks before that.

The good news is, while just over 1,660 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 during the week of February 15-21, that is down from more than 19 hundred in the two weeks before that.

Florida health officials say the state has had more than 7.5 million COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, resulting in about 86,200 deaths.

Health officials say 73 percent of Floridians 6 months old and older have gotten at least one COVID vaccination shot.
