South Florida Immigrant Activists Applaud TPS Extension For Venezuelans

Sighs of relief in South Florida as President Biden grants Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelan asylum seekers and migrants. But Ernesto Ackerman -President of Venezuelan Independent States-says the move has limits, since it only applies to those who arrived in the U-S before July 2023. The move means Venezuelans granted TPS status will not have to wait 180-days before being eligible to work. Miami-Dade's Mayor is applauding the move since the county is home to the largest Venezuelan population in the U-S with nearly 133-thousand Venezuelans living here.
