South Florida law enforcement is stepping up its patrols. Areas linclude Miami-Dade County, where Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava has called for a heightened level of security, partially activating the Miami-Dade County Emergency Operations Center.
Law enforcement across the U.S. will be on alert after the ex-Hamas chief called for Global Day of Jihad on Friday. There have already been some pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian marchers clashing in some U.S. cities since the war broke out between Israel and Hamas.
Israel is warning the United Nations to evacuate over a million people in Gaza. On Thursday, UN officials said the Israeli Ministry of Defense told them to notify Palestinians living in the northern areas of Gaza to evacuate to the southern part of the strip in the next 24 hours. The UN says it is physically impossible to evacuate that many people "without devastating humanitarian consequences."
