Bill Filed In Congress To Rename West Palm VA Hospital After War Hero

Florida's Congressional delegation supports a bill to rename the West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a Vietnam War hero.

Republican Congressman and wounded war veteran Brian Mast has introduced a bill that would rename the hospital the Thomas H. Corey Health Care System of West Palm Beach.

Corey was a Jupiter resident who died in June of 2022 at the age of 77. He was a decorated veteran and Mast calls him a lifelong advocate for veterans.

Corey served as the U.S. Army's 1st Cavalry Division squad leader until he was shot in the neck on January 31st, 1968 and permanently paralyzed as a quadriplegic. He received a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts among other awards for his service.

All of Florida's 28 members of the House are cosponsoring Mast's bipartisan bill.
