Tornadoes Confirmed in Miami-Dade and Broward

A tornado is responsible for some damage in Broward County. The National Weather Service, Monday, confirming an EF-Zero touched down in Davie on Sunday. It had a peak wind of about 80 miles an hour and traveled about 3.5 miles in about eight minutes. A tree fell onto a home near Nova Village Drive, and a car had its bumper torn off. No one was hurt.

At least two tornadoes are confirmed to have touched down in South Florida. The National Weather Service yesterday confirmed a tornado in Monroe County and Miami-Dade County. One tornado went from Cudjoe Key through the Torch Keys, and some homes were damaged. One home in the Venture Out mobile home community in Cudjoe Key sustained major damage. Over a thousand Keys Energy customers lost power. The NWS says the other tornado touched down in Miami-Dade County near 8th Street and Krome Ave.

Mother Nature is setting records and wiping out plans across South Florida. Fort Lauderdale recorded over two inches of rain yesterday. That breaks a record set 30 year ago, but it's only about half what Pompano Beach got.

The rain and wind brought the 60th Coconut Grove Arts Festival to an early end yesterday. It'll reopen at 10:00 this morning, though. The Florida Renaissance Festival also forced to close Sunday due to the downpours but will continue next weekend.

The Red Cross is helping a Tamarac woman after her roof collapsed. A car flipped and landed on another car in Oakland Park, and a tree fell and blocked a road in Pembroke Pines.

Travel plans were disrupted at Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
