A Treasure Coast woman is charged with stealing a puppy with special needs and then ditching it for dead.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office posted video online of the moments when 44-year old Onicia Prince was arrested.

They had to use a battering ram to get inside her home.

Officials say Prince left the six-week old American bulldog in a wooded area.

The animal was found inside a pet carrier three days after being reported stolen and died from malnutrition and dehydration just hours after being returned to its owner.

Charges against Prince include animal torture, abandonment, petit theft and burglary.
