Miami-Dade School Board To Vote On Plan To Expand iPrep Academy

The Miami-Dade School Board expected to vote on a plan reviving a proposal to allow iPrep Academy to replace the current pre-K-through 12-public school in downtown Miami with a new building in Biscayne Park. Miami Commissioner Damian Pardo says the deal giving that land to a wealthy couple who want to operate a private school there was tainted, because it's tied to former Commissioner Alex Diaz de la Portilla who's charged with bribery and money laundering. The arrest affidavit alleges the couple funneled money through their lobbyist to a political committee controlled by Diaz de la Portilla.
