Largo, FL - A Largo man is facing domestic battery charges after allegedly assaulting his 78-year-old wife during an argument over driving privileges on Friday.

According to an arrest affidavit, the victim contacted authorities to report abuse at a residence on the 2000 block of 8th Avenue Southwest in Largo.

The call reportedly captured the suspect, 78-year-old Walter Lee David, yelling at the victim to "shut up and stop it."

Responding officers discovered the victim with injuries including a cut to her left eye, a bruised nose, and a red contusion to the back of her head.

Authorities say the residence's living room appeared to be in disarray, suggesting a physical struggle.

An investigation revealed that David became upset after the victim refused to allow him to drive their car due to driving restrictions.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, while David was arrested for battery on a person over the age of 65.

He is currently being held without bond.
