A beach cleanup event is going on at 25 locations across Palm Beach County Saturday.
It's part of the International Coastal Cleanup. Organizers say trash in the ocean and on the sand is a serious problem that affects the health of people as well as wildlife.
Ocean Conservancy puts on this worldwide clean-up where hundreds of thousands of volunteers comb not only beaches, but lakes and rivers as well. In more than 30 years, more than 220 million pounds of trash has been cleaned up.
Locations where this is going on in Palm Beach County include South Inlet Park in Boca Raton, Lake Worth Beach, Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach and Dubois Park in Jupiter.
Many of the clean-ups begin at 8 a.m., though there are some that start a bit later.
