Bottom Line: So you'd think that based on the media's depiction of the 90 day ban on travel from seven high risk middle-eastern countries that the whole country is ready to throw the new President overboard right? First as depicted in today's Q&A, the travel ban isn't a ban on Muslims and 86% of the world's Muslims aren't impacted by the ban. Now for the facts...
The following accredited pollsters found the following when surveying Americans on a temporary stay on refugee programs:
There have been two accredited polls on this topic within the past week. Here's what they showed:
Rasmussen 57% to 33% in favor
Quinnipiac: 48% to 42% in favor
That's an average of 52.5% in favor compared to 37.5% against, or in other words, 15% more Americans favor the action taken by the President than not. So once again we can see just how out of the mainstream the media, Hollywood and many politicians attempting to race bait really are. Now for my final two cents on the refugee programs...If I were President there wouldn't be a temporary stay on refugee programs. They would be in place until we've paid our own bills and accounted for our own citizens first.
The US national debt is now $19.7 trillion. According to the Census Bureau 45 million Americans, or 14% of the US population live below the federal poverty level. In 2016 the United States took in more than 86,000 refugees. Every refugee costs taxpayers $20,000 to relocate to the US and then are immediately eligible for government provided housing, food stamps and welfare. For a country nearly $20 trillion in debt with 45 million of it's own in poverty - isn't that a massive misplaced priority?
If you believe that's the case you're not a racist, bigot, xenophobe and whatever else the radicals lob your way. You're part of the "Real America", which still has a semblance of common sense left.
