Why Fox News just won't fail:
Bottom Line: Many on the left that root for the failure of Fox News have been filled with false hope over the past many months. First it was the scandal/departure of Roger Ailes. Then it was the sudden departure of Greta Van Susteren and of course Megyn Kelly's recent exit to NBC.
With each of these changes, including the network's architect, and two prime-time news personalities, many waited with bated breath for Fox to begin to fail. Well a funny thing has happened. Fox's ratings are now substantially higher than they were before.
Fox's average ratings in the spot formally manned Greta's spot are up an average of 25%. A month ago in an interview she actually was quoted as saying "I hope the Fox audience comes over". My initial reaction was to laugh - except she apparently was serious - she's on MSNBC by the way. She was number one in her time spot on Fox. Where is she these days? Third (out of the three FOX, CNN MSNBC). So how about Megyn Kelly's slot? Tucker Carlson's first month taking over her top rated show has experienced a stunning 50% year over year increase! Here are the key takeaways:
It's highly likely that NBC ridiculously overpaid for the two former Fox stars. The two former Fox stars greatly overestimated their personal value without the platform that the most people trust for news. Last year Fox News was the most consumed news among all voters with 19% compared to CNN with 13% and NBC and MSNBC at 5% according to the Pew Research Center. Among Trump voters it was 40% for Fox compared to 8% for CNN, 6% for NBC and under 2% for MSNBC.
As for Fox News viewers they apparently appreciate NBC taking the Greata and Megyn combo off of Fox for hosts they'd rather watch for nightly news.
