Tracking Trump - Direction of the Country:
Bottom Line: So this is the 2nd new addition to the Friday lineup for political junkies who missed my Friday political series. For years, despite generally favorable approval ratings for President Obama, we've collectively been unhappy with the overall direction of our country. It's fair to say that President Trump is much more than just a new President. He intends to lead the movement that led to election forward. How will the country respond? Will our collective unhappiness begin to abate?
In this entry I'll be tracking the overall view of the direction of the country led by President Trump. Here's where we stood on Inauguration Day:
Right Direction: 30%
Wrong Track: 59.1%
Net Negative: -28.2%
Last week's ratings:
Right Direction: 31.6%
Wrong Track: 58.3%
Net Negative: -26.7%
Change: +1.5%
And today:
Right Direction: 34.5%
Wrong Track: 56.1%
Net Negative: -21.6%
Change: +6.6% since inauguration day & +5.1% vs last week
So...So. After essentially proving that my Obama theory was fact (that people generally liked Obama the President but not his policies). My Trump theory is starting to look potentially correct as well (that people don't generally like Trump the President but do like his policies). Despite the noise out of the media & it's political allies, my research demonstrated that solid majorities of Americans agree with Trump's agenda, including the stay on high risk immigrants until proper vetting is in place. While most people clearly think this country isn't on track - the last time it was even this good was right at two years ago and prior to that you'd have to go back to February of 2013. Until next week.
