An amazing rescue in The Acreage yesterday as eight firefighters worked to free a horse who had fallen into a muddy watering hole.
The 25 year old horse named "Skip" was trapped up to his stomach in mud at a home along 47th court. It took the firefighters with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue about an hour to free the animal by placing straps around his body.
A veterinarian was called into sedate the horse and once freed the vet evaluated him and then stayed for a while on the scene to be sure Skip had no serious injuries from the incident. Officials say the horse was drinking water, walking around and eating afterward.
