We told you earlier this week that 2017 is on pace to be an even worse year for retail than the Great Recession in 2008, when more than 6,000 stores closed across the country.
Sears has already closed 150 non-profitable stores in recent years, including 108 Kmarts.
As it stands, there are just two Kmarts in Palm Beach County...in Boca Raton and Lantana.
The company now says it will be closing 50 auto centers and 92 under-performing Kmart pharmacies as part of its restructuring. They have not announced yet which locations would be impacted nor has the company given a timeline.
There are auto centers at Sears stores at the Gardens Mall, Boynton Beach Mall and Boca Town Center.
We'll be sure to let you know if and when any of the local stores are affected.
