More sweet corn is grown in Palm Beach County than in any other county in the U.S. and each year that is celebrated at the South Florida Sweet Corn Fiesta, which is going on at the South Florida Fairgrounds' Yesteryear Village Sunday.
Fun fact: Local farmers cultivate more than 27,000 acres yearly, according to event organizers.
The event features the National Sweet Corn Eating Championship. The winner last year ate 47 ears of corn to set a new world record.
There will also be an amateur contest, along with a corn shucking contests for kids and adults, live music and rides for the kids.
Admission: $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-11, and free to kids 5 years old and younger. A $5 unlimited rides wristband is available for kids. Parking is free.
