Budget Deal To Pay Back Palm Beach County For Trump Visits

A bipartisan budget deal that still needs approval from Congress includes funding for Palm Beach County.

It's to reimburse local governments for the expense of protecting President Trump when he is at Mar-a-Lago and in New York City.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the bill includes $61 million for this purpose...$20 million to cover costs incurred when he was President-elect and $41 million for expenses since Donald Trump took office.

Most of the money spent locally has been by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, who assists the Secret Service when the president is here, and that amount has reached nearly $4 million.

The spending plan would be in effect through the month of September.
