Authorities say a man arrested in a fatal weekend hit and run is an illegal immigrant.
21-year old Brandon Wesson was on his motorcycle at the corner of Hypoluxo and Lawrence Roads early Sunday morning when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 48-year old Victor Rivera. Wesson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say Rivera continued to drive home, hitting a car parked in a driveway along the way.
Officers eventually found Rivera at his home, less than a mile away from where Wesson was killed. He was charged with leaving the scene of a deadly crash and operating a vehicle without a driver's license. The man told cops that he was aware he had been in a crash.
He also admitted to not having a license because he doesn't have the legal documents to be in the U.S.
Rivera went before a judge on Monday and bond was set at $35,000.
A candle light vigil is planned for Wesson Tuesday evening.
Wesson worked at Mario the Baker in Royal Palm Beach, where his co-workers have been in mourning ever since news broke of his death.
