A suspect was shot by police in West Palm Beach early Monday morning.
Two officers were responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle at Palmetto Park, in an area east of I-95 and north of Forest Hill Boulevard when they found two people inside the car.
Cops say the suspects reversed the vehicle and backed into a police cruiser. That's when the police department says the officers opened fire for fear of their lives. One suspect was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other suspect was immediately taken into custody.
Investigators found a gun inside the vehicle. The officers were not injured and have been placed on paid leave, pending the investigation, which is protocol.
The FDLE is investigating.
