The Coast Guard and the FBI confirm they are jointly conducting a "missing person investigation" into the disappearance of a Delray Beach mother.
Lewis Bennett says his wife, Isabella Hellman was sailing with him near Cuba May 14 when their boat struck something and started to sink. He claims he last saw her wearing a life vest, but couldn't find her before jumping in a life raft and later being rescued by the Coast Guard near the Bahamas.
According to a police report from the Boca Raton Police Department, last Sunday, an officer was called out to the home of Hellman's family, as Bennett called for help to retrieve some person items he said they had taken from his home. While there, the officer observed Hellman's sister accuse Bennett of killing Isabella.
No agencies have specifically said that Bennett is the target of an investigation or whether they are looking into the possibility of foul play in Hellman's disappearance.
