FWC Final Report: Weather To Blame In Austin & Perry's Disappearance

US Coast Guard Search and Rescue

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is out with its final report on the search for two Tequesta teens who went missing in the summer of 2015.

Investigators say weather was to blame for the boat carrying Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen capsizing.

The 14-year old boys set out to go fishing in the Jupiter Inlet and never came home.  Crews recovered their boat off the coast of Bermuda in March of 2016.

The report from the FWC also states that the boat's engine was operating properly when the boat took on water and that while there are many scenarios speculating what might have occurred prior to and during the capsizing, the evidence is not conclusive enough to confirm anything other than the fact that a weather event caused the boat to flip over.
