Broward Deputy Holds Standoff With PBSO Deputies, Ends Peacefully

A Broward County Sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after a standoff in Boca Raton.

The deputy, whose name has not been released, was at his home in Broward Sunday when he made some comments that his fellow deputies considered to be alarming enough for them to take away his service revolver.

The man then drove to the Boca Country Club, where his ex-wife lives, as the Broward deputies followed. While there, he threatened to commit suicide and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office was called in to negotiate with the deputy.

Roads were shut down while this was going on and reopened when it ended peacefully around 3 p.m.
