West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio was in Washington D.C. last week, working on getting money for local projects and approvals on other issues.

The mayor and the city attorney spoke with U.S. Representatives Alcee Hastings, Lois Frankel, Senator Bill Nelson and visited Senator Marco Rubio's office in the nation's capital.  She also met with officials from the Departments of Justice and Transportation, as well as the Coast Guard.

In addition, Mayor Muoio also spoke with the folks from the Army Corps of Engineers, to again plead that the extension of State Road 7 along the western edge of the Grassy Waters Preserve does not get done.

Discussions with the Department of Transportation had to do with getting money for infrastructure, to help ease congestion along Okeechobee Boulevard, in the wake of a traffic study and a week's worth of public input.
