Being good with money is sexier than being sexy (for many):
Bottom Line: This is where the phrase "We are the dorks who will rule the world" comes to mind. Believe it or not that was actually said in response to me in school (rather than by me). A guy I went to school with profiled me slightly incorrectly after losing a student body election to me (being pretty good at sports in school covered for a lot of less than cool tendencies). Anyway this particular guy said that he'd rule the world and marry my girlfriend too! It's altogether possible that happened because I haven't the slightest clue what happened to either one of them. I guess I digressed with that story but here's the latest research on what people who're dating are looking for according to the latest from Discover and Match.com:
- 58% of people said they'd prefer a person with a good credit score over a nice car
- 50% said they'd rather date someone with a good credit score over a good job
- 40% said they'd rather have someone with good credit than good physical fitness (ok, see what happened here)
The top three responses/words people associate with good credit scores: responsible, trustworthy & smart. There's a lot in this world we don't have a lot of control over but credit is one in which we do...If you're dating you could have a great career and a fancy car and that wouldn't be as attractive to more than half of the population as simply having a 720 or better credit score. That could even make you the dork who rules the world...or at least give you a chance to marry that cool guy's girlfriend.
