From pay to perks...how happy we are with our current careers:
Bottom Line: It's safe to say that there's a lot of room for improvement. Gallup asked a myriad of questions of salaried and hourly employees across the country and the results were generally less than stellar. Starting with compensation.
Just 41% of salaried employees and 29% of hourly employees are completely satisfied with their compensation...That kind of sets the stage for the rest of what we are satisfied with at work...and what we're not.
Here are the top three areas of satisfaction for salaried employees:
- Safety at work: 83%
- Relationships with coworkers: 73%
- Vacation time: 65%
Not exactly the most exciting list of workplace considerations. Here's the same for hourly employees:
- Safety: 72%
- Relationships with coworkers: 72%
- Flexibility: 62%
On the other end of the spectrum...here are the bottom three for salaried professionals:
- Health insurance: 45%
- Opportunity for a promotion: 45%
- Compensation: 41%
- Stress: 25%
And for hourly folks:
- Chances for a promotion: 35%
- Health insurance benefits: 35%
- Retirement plan: 34%
- Stress: 31%
So on the bright side there's a lot of opportunity for an employer who's able to go the extra mile to address these concerns with potential employees...
