When it comes to "Rocket Man", a majority of us support military action if needed:
Bottom Line: I doubt there are many who hope that we're forced into a military conflict with North Korea but if Rocket Man continues to press the issue most of us are ready to take action. According to Gallup 58% of Americans are supportive of war with North Korea if needed. This is actually the highest percentage of Americans to support military action against North Korea in Gallup's surveying over the years. As is often the case there's a political bend to it:
Percentage who'd support military action:
- 82% of Republicans
- 56% of Independents
- 37% of Democrats
This is perhaps most notable as President Trump has indicated that the US will "destroy" North Korea if provoked into military action. Ironically strong language like that might lead to increased support for military action if needed. Many of us are tired of fighting politically correct wars that result in the death of many Americans but without clear victory. They last time we fought wars to truly destroy enemies we saved the world. Let's hope that we don't have to do that again. If we do however, I find it refreshing to hear a President express a willingness to do what's required to win.
