Hot – Emergency Food Stamp Applicants: A Bit More Organized Today

Today marks the second day for local residents to get emergency assistance food stamps if they lost groceries due to Hurricane Irma.  Those centers in Lake Worth, Delray Beach and Belle Glade are open, but residents are urged to go online and apply first.  While people at both John Prince Park and Lake Ida Park tell our CBS 12 partners that things ran more smoothly today, traffic back-ups continue for those driving near those parks.

LAKE WORTH, Fla. (CBS12) — Palm Beach County deputies prepare for the second day of "Food for Florida" at John Prince Park near Lake Worth.

Overnight deputies turned away hundreds of drivers trying to line up early to get inside the gates for hurricane help.

Around 6 a.m. crews blocked off the right northbound lane of South Congress Avenue to allow cars to begin lining up.

Traffic is gridlocked around the entire area, stretching to I-95.
