Important headlines for November 9th:

Bottom Line: These are the stories you don't want to miss (but probably would if I didn't find them for you)...

There aren't many outlets producing better content day in and day out than the Federalist. There also aren't many, if any, journalists producing more effective content than Mollie Hemingway. She commands respect for her work including mine and she ID'd signs within Virginia elections that are revealing and important for Republicans that still haven't decided that they'll do what they said they'd do when they were elected. Here are her five things:

  • An Absolute Tidal Wave for Democrats

  • Top Of Ballot Republicans Lost, But In Interesting Ways

  • Democrats Are Finally Focusing on Statehouse Races

  • What Does It Mean For 2018?

  • Republicans Have to Start Delivering on Their Campaign Promises

It's like this...The Democrats cleaned up down ballot in Virginia flipping 15 seats in the state-house. That's a big number. While the Governor's race broke as history would suggest it would have, the Democrats did outperform norms down ballot. What's more is that this is all part of a renewed focus by Democrats to make their way back from their poorest level of representation since the 1920's and they'll be emboldened by their success. Additionally, Republicans who backed Trump's agenda fared better than those who didn't and there's plenty of evidence that voters who broke for Republicans last year are fed up with the lack of progress on the promised agenda. That's all a pretty big deal upon further review...

Excerpt: The American economy is roaring. Businesses have created nearly 1.5 million new jobs. Manufacturers haven’t been this confident in 20 years. The stock market is setting records, creating nearly $5 trillion in wealth for the pension, retirement and savings of the American people. And after eight years of lackluster growth, the economy has already expanded by at least 3% for two quarters in a row.

We’ve approved the Keystone and Dakota pipelines. We’re appointing originalists to the federal courts, to uphold the Constitution and all our God-given liberties. And President Trump put Justice Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court. He has stood without apology with the men and women of law enforcement. We’re securing our borders, enforcing our laws and taking the gang members, drug dealers and violent criminals off our streets. The president is putting our veterans first. He signed bills to restore accountability to the Department of Veterans Affairs and give veterans access to the world-class care they deserve. We’re rebuilding our military. President Trump has already signed the largest increase in defense spending in nearly 10 years, and we are working with Congress to pass one of the largest investments in the national defense since the days of Ronald Reagan.

Any questions? Except to imagine what could happen if Congress were to do its job as promised?

Excerpt: Catholic students can still be Catholic at Georgetown University. That’s basically what the school’s Student Activities Commission decided Thursday evening in all its benevolence. The commission ruled that the pro-family, pro-chastity student organization Love Saxa could retain its status as a recognized campus group despite efforts to have it labeled a “hate group” and essentially disbanded.

The students that stand on conservative principals in the face of the leftist onslaught at colleges across the country are simply incredible people. The strength and resolve to stand up to pop culture, most of the students around you and the school's administration on principles and values they'd all long abandoned is admirable to say the least.

Until tomorrow...
