Hot – PBC School District Wants More Property Tax Dollars For Teachers

Palm Beach County Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert Avossa wants property taxes to be used to pay more money to teachers.  The proposal would have homeowners paying an additional $25 per $100,000 of assessed tax value on their property tax bills.  Avossa says teachers are leaving the district due to low salaries and he wants to offer more money to keep them here.  This would be on top of a one percent per dollar sales tax increase that went into effect this year, with half of that going to the school district.
