The Florida Atlantic University Owls are in their first Boca Raton Bowl, and they are favored heavily to win. FAU hosts the Akron Zips tonight at 7 p.m. at their Boca campus and the game will air live on ESPN.
For one night, the Florida Atlantic football team will own the spotlight.
On Tuesday, it plays Akron in the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl at FAU Stadium. It is the only football game of the night, so the Owls are treating it as their personal showcase.
“We’re on a (winning) streak,” running back Gregory Howell Jr said. “Why mess it up? I guess we’re the only people playing on Tuesday and [we can] show the world. We still don’t have respect from the world.”
Also, if you’re driving in Boca Raton tonight, expect traffic delays.
Officials are expecting big traffic for Tuesday night’s Boca Raton Bowl, and they’re urging those not attending the game to avoid the area.
It’ll be a home game for Florida Atlantic University, competing against the University of Akron at 7 p.m. Drivers are asked to steer clear of Spanish River Boulevard.
