Hysterical Headlines (Funny or Absurd) for January 18th:

Bottom Line: These are the daily doses of nonsense in the media and my hot takes on them...

500 expected for March to Mar-a-Lago protest in Palm Beach on Saturday - Palm Beach Daily News (Shiny Sheet)

Excerpt: At least 500 people are expected to attend an anti-Donald Trump protest scheduled for Saturday along South Ocean Boulevard, according to the protest organizer.

Mark Offerman, a 48-year-old Wellington resident, said he created the event, called “The Inaugural Impeachment March to Mar-a-Lago,” on Facebook three weeks ago. “The most important thing for us to initiate this weekend, and to me personally, is to show the entire planet that this man has no mandate here,” said Offerman, who added that he has been involved with three other Palm Beach protests against Trump. “He’s unwelcome.”

Hot Take: This was too entertaining to pass up. Let's start with the headline. At least 500 people are expected to attend the protest...Ahh ok. Maybe that turns out to be the case maybe it doesn't. Or maybe this turns out like the million-man march in 1995 that the National Park Service said topped out at 400,000. This story starts with a baseless headline. Then it gets better. So, this is called the Inaugural Impeachment March. There's the upfront acknowledgement that this effort will fail before it commences. So yeah who wouldn't want to be part of this failure? There's the money quote. ..."he has no mandate here...he's unwelcome". Now here's the irony of a protester standing on an island that's public property telling the owner of the nearest home that he doesn't have a mandate "here" and isn't welcome in the home that he owns. You can't make this stuff up. You couldn't write a funnier parody than this thing.

Hot Take: This is solid gold. On one hand you have one of the most impressive physicians in the world who's served as a physician to multiple presidents. On the other hand, you have a guy who writes for the Atlantic. Naturally this Atlantic writer is the more credible barometer of the veracity of the President's cognitive exam. What's more, is that not unlike the first story, this is someone who's dead serious and expects to be taken seriously. I'm accustomed to intensive research, facts and reason as part of my anecdotes in these segments but the bar has been lowered so far that little more than objective observations about the absurdity of these fools is all that's required. I'm afraid the dumbing down of America is just about complete. And on that note...I pity the fool who read these articles and thinks yeah - they're making a lot of sense right now... If that's you there's still time. Wake up, shake yourself free of your blind hatred of the President for a moment and think about what I said at the onset of this story. If you want to be taken seriously as a credible person on this planet disengage. Or, check yourself, if you'd rather. It's embarrassing.

Hot Take: Why not?
