Hysterical Headlines (Funny or Absurd) for January 22nd

Hysterical Headlines (Funny or Absurd) for January 22nd

Bottom Line: These are the daily doses of nonsense in the media and my hot takes on them...

Brightline CEO on deaths: 'Never try to beat a train'  - Sun Sentinel

Hot Take: Good for the CEO. There's been a ton of political posturing from local officials and even members of Congress about the apparent safety lapses with Brightline. To be clear I don't know what I don't know but based on the public information on the three deaths associated with Brightline so far all equipment worked properly. People who died didn't. It's not a new concept that if railroad lights are going off and the bars go down you're at imminent risk if you're on the tracks. If you make the decision to attempt to cross anyway how is that the train's fault?

It's easy for opponents of Brightline to jump on these and say see! Something's wrong. But unless there's more to this story the only thing that's been off is the mindset of the people on the tracks and this just in. You can only go so far to protect people from themselves.

Excerpt: Even for those of us who braced for catastrophe, the first year of Donald Trump's presidency was worse than expected -- more divisive, mean-spirited, erratic, unhinged, incompetent and egomaniacal than could have been imagined. Any glimmer of hope for a better Trump after the election, any speck of it once he took his oath of office, all that is now extinguished.

Hot Take: Serious question for a minute - Would you rather have a 1.8% growth economy with raises that don't keep up with cost of living, higher taxes, skyrocketing healthcare costs and barely enough new jobs to keep pace with population growth but with a President who talked a good game. Or would you rather a 3.2% growth economy with the lowest unemployment rate in decades, including record low minority unemployment rates, the best raises in over a decade and the best improvement in net take home pay in 32 years but with a President you didn't like?

If this is even a question you're A. Misguided in your priorities B. Put more faith in your political party than God C. A member of the GSS media and you suck at life

Excerpt: I woke up in Washington, DC, the morning of January 20, 2017, to the sound of screaming sirens, and I found myself thinking the unthinkable: Maybe it won’t happen. Maybe President Obama has found a way to stop the inauguration of Donald Trump.

Hot Take: That's how this article started... And this is what's behind this movement. Any questions? Btw, just ignore the fact that women have never had a better year in the workplace, more prosperity or upward mobility as 2017. But why let facts get in the way of anti-American bigotry right?

Until Tomorrow...
