We were joined by Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam this morning.
Sometime in the next few days, his office will cross a major milestone in his program to expedite Concealed Weapons Licenses for military members and veterans. Putnam launched this program after two shootings at military installations in Chattanooga, Tennessee back in 2015.
The Agriculture Commissioner's office will soon have expedited 100,000 applications from military and veterans.
"We have expedited applications from nearly 100,000 concealed weapons licenses for active military and veterans. They go to the front of the line. If they can carry a gun to protect us across the ocean, overseas and in hostile territories, then they can do that here in Florida."
We spoke with Putnam about this and his run for governor, including his new competition in the race in the Republican primary, Congressman Ron DeSantis.
