I-95 Reopens After Deputy-Involved Shooting

LANTANA, Fla. (WPEC) - I-95 is now open after being shut down for a majority of the day Wednesday. The busy northbound lanes opened shortly after 4 p.m. This, following the deaths of two people after a multi-car crash on I-95 northbound at Lantana Road and a deadly shooting.

The School District Transportation Department released the following statement Wednesday afternoon, advising parents how the incident would affect bus schedules:

...they have deployed buses to schools early for afternoon pick up to help mitigate any delays due to the shutdown on 95. However, because of increased traffic congestion on surface streets, parents should be advised that students may have slight delays getting to their bus stops at their regular times. We appreciate your patience.

The road reopened at 4:19 p.m., the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said. The Florida Highway Patrol says the tolls on the Turnpike in Palm Beach County are temporarily suspended.
