Florida's economic confidence is strong

Florida's economic confidence is strong

Bottom Line: Recently the President stated that the state of our union is strong. Economically he was right. The US economy is performing the best it has in about 13 years based on economic growth, and about 20 years based on personal economic factors. While it's great that the country is doing well, what's most important to you is how things are closest to home. The good news is that there is good news for Florida's overall economy and confidence in it. First here are the top overall states for economic confidence as surveyed by Gallup:

  • South Dakota: + 19
  • Idaho: + 20
  • Utah: + 24
  • North Dakota + 25
  • Wyoming + 25

But it's not all good news. There are states that are in negative territory and it's also reflective of states and economies that have been losing population and have been lagging the rest of the country. They include:

  • Illinois: -2
  • Maryland: - 2
  • Delaware: -3
  • New Mexico: -6
  • Vermont: -13

Obviously, geography is a critical consideration for one's overall economic well-being and confidence. So, where are we?

  •  Florida is tied for 9th best confidence at +11 (0 is a neutral score). What's more is that it's a 7-point increase over a year ago.

So much like the US economy, Florida's economic confidence is good and getting even better.
