Important headlines for February 12th

Bottom Line: These are stories you don't want to miss and my hot takes on them...

Hot Take: The Herald picked upion this notice posted by Sunpass:

Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) has identified some past toll charges that never posted to customer accounts. These transactions have been recovered and we will begin to post these toll charges to your SunPass account. We have been advised that some transactions may be dated as early as October 18, 2017. As a result, you may see additional replenishment charges to your credit card. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please monitor your account balance to assure funds are available to pay for these tolls on MDX roadways.

So what roads are impacted? The MDX includes:

  • Gratigny

  • Don Shula Parkway

  • Snapper Creek

  • Airport Expressway

  • The Dolphin Expressway

So, if you traveled on any of those roads from mid-October through January - there's a good chance you'll have charges being posted all of the sudden.

Excerpt: On Monday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, released a letter to the FBI, co-signed by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., that suggested federal officials investigate Christopher Steele, the former British intelligence officer who wrote the infamous Trump "dossier," for lying to the FBI. Basically the letter argued that either Steele lied to the FBI about talking to the media when he was not supposed to, or the FBI knew Steele talked to the press in violation of protocol and covered up for him. At best, FBI officials were gulled. At worst, they deliberately withheld information that could have halted their investigation. But as Grassley and Graham pointed out, lying to the FBI is a crime. The FBI charged President Donald Trump's first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, with lying to federal officials; he pleaded guilty.

Hot Take: Btw, lying to the FISA court is also a crime. Look, this isn't complicated. It's a fact that impropriety has occurred within the FBI and Department of Justice. There been firings, demotions and reassignments related to it prior to the Nunes memo having been released. Now we're nine days removed from 30 statements of fact in the Nunes memo - any one of which proves illegal activity by the highest officials at the FBI and Justice Department. To this moment not a single one has been specifically disproven. While many in the media and those on the left more interested in political outcomes than justice - that's also an absolute fact.

This isn't complicated.

Hot Take: If there's one top annoyance of mine - it's the seemingly forgotten notion that the government works for us. Not the other way around. If the FBI potentially has engaged in illegal activity to circumvent the Presidential election, President-Elect and President you're damn straight that we should be mad as hell and demand accountability. Just as is the case with all officials that are supposed to be working for us, not to circumvent us.

Until tomorrow...
