Hysterical Headlines (Funny or Absurd) for May 18th – A Bald Bunny
Bottom Line: Your daily doses of nonsense in the media and my takes on them...
Excerpt: Political rainmaker John Morgan, who largely bankrolled a constitutional amendment in 2016 that broadly legalized medical marijuana, believes incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson faces a tough challenge in the November election from Republican Rick Scott, who’s finishing his last year as governor.
“I think Sen. Nelson is in for a dog fight. I think he’s got to get busy,” Morgan said while holding court Wednesday with reporters in Tallahassee. “You cannot underestimate this Rick Scott. He is a methodical, Eveready bunny; a bald-headed Eveready bunny who just never stops. He’s focused, and he’s got the money. And he’s got the message. And if I was Bill Nelson, I’d be worried.”
Hot Take: Umm, what's odder here? An attorney referred to as a "political rainmaker" or well that Rick Scott reference. But here's the thing. Rick Scott demonstrably has been no worse than the third most effective Governor in the country over the past 7+years. Biggest decline in unemployment rate of any state. Second business growth. Third in total job growth and record economic performance for our state four years in a row after Florida was the second hardest hit state in the country during the Great Recession. And that doesn't account for his leadership through all of the adversity over the years. So yeah, what's Bill's biggest accomplishment over the past eight years? Being one of the 60 votes that gave us Obamacare? Yeah there's reason for him to be concerned.
