Marlins... Community is nice but winning is better - Hysterical Headlines

Hysterical Headlines (Funny or Absurd) for July 26th  Community is nice but winning is better

Bottom Line: Your daily doses of nonsense in the media and my takes on them...

Excerpt: Faced with the lowest attendance figures for any Major League Baseball team in over a decade, the Marlins are ramping up their marketing efforts on what club officials view as fertile ground for crowd growth.

Their own backyard.

The Marlins this week launched an extensive marketing initiative that is aimed specifically at Miami-Dade County and its communities as they search for ways to fill empty seats.

“We are Miami , we are the home team, and we want everyone to rally around us the way we’re rallying around the [local] neighborhoods,” said Elisa Padilla, the Marlins’ senior vice president of marketing and community relations.

Hot Take: Ok. Or, and it's just a thought, you could try winning. I'm not saying that there's no merit in the concept of hey, come watch them lose in your own backyard, but the other thing would probably work better. Or you could just market Marlins Park as a place to watch soccer until Beckham's stadium gets built.

Hot Take: I track this weekly, updated my research just yesterday and there's literally not one sign right now. Not one. In fact, Democrats would underperform the average midterm outcome for an out of power party. But this is CNN...

Until Tomorrow...
