A closer look at Venezuela – Fight for freedom or leave?

Bottom Line: More than a hundred thousand Floridians, mostly South Floridians, have a personal interest in the unrest in Venezuela. Florida’s not only the top state for Venezuelans, the top thirteen cities in the country for Venezuelans are all in Florida, led by Doral. For them it’s their homeland on the line in addition to often having family that’s left behind. As for those in the mist of the Venezuelan fight for freedom...the question is whether to stay or to go. According to Gallup more than a third are about ready to go. Here’s what they found...

  • 36% of Venezuelans would like to leave the country
  • 51% of those under 30

That gives you an idea of what it’s like on the ground. As for where they’d like to go...

  1. United States
  2. Columbia
  3. Peru
  4. Chile
  5. Ecuador

I’ve spoken about the perspective of those fleeing from and/or surviving socialist/communist countries being the saviors of the United States with their perspective... On that note not one respondent said they wanted to relocate to Cuba. What does that tell you?
